The water's rhythmic washing was relaxing, peaceful, as Chroma sat atop a rocky ledge waiting in the privacy of the waterfall caves for the boy he'd left the anonymous note to. He'd had strong feelings for Dominique for a while, but his long-time friend had been very much his secret desire. Chroma couldn't really bare the thought of the judgement he might face if people knew he was interested in men, even though there was a large population of homosexual students at the school, those who weren't gay, were probably at least somewhat prejudiced in the eyes of Chromatique. While this probably wasn't the case, Chroma chose to use it as an excuse, a rationalization of his fear.
Come on Dominique... The boy said, hoping his would-be valentine would soon arrive. The message had left only one slight hint of who the person writing was, and that was the fact that the first sentence had been written, each letter in a different color, not that Chroma wrote like this, usually, but the multiple colors would be reminiscent of his hair, or so he figured. At the moment Chroma's hair was shimmering between green, blue purple and red as he stared blankly toward the entrance of the caves. Chromatique sighed. At least if Dominque didn't show up he wouldn't know who sent the letter, right?

Dominique woke up Valentine's Day morning. He rose and stretched before rubbing his eyes. He yawned and looked around his bed. At the foot of his bed there was a piece of paper. Curious, Dominique picked it up and began to read. It was a message telling him to meet a mystery person at the waterfall caves. This person claimed to be a secret admirer of sorts.
Dominque wasn't sure if he should go at first. Meeting strangers was definitely a bad idea, but what if he knew this person? It could be true, but at the same time this person could be setting Dominique up for a prank. Dom was hesitant, but ultimately decided to go. He didn't feel like wearing his uniform to meet a possible admirer, so he began looking through his other clothes. He had a tough time deciding what to wear, but eventually settled on a purple short sleeve dress shirt, a black vest, a black skinny tie, some black wristbands, black skinnies, black and white Converse with purple laces, and a black custom fedora that had DJ and music notes stitched on in purple. He exited his dorm and went out to the grounds, wand in hand, just incase he needed it.
Dom walked up to the caves and began to think things through before rushing in. Should he have his wand ready? What if he goes in with his wand, ready to attack and scares the admirer? And of course, what if it's a set up? Dominique set these questions aside and faced his fears and journeyed into the cave, ready to find the answer to his many questions.
He walked inside, the cave had speckles of light covering the wall as the light refracted through the water. The sound of water calmed him even though his heart was racing. He looked around and saw a figure. He walked closer and as he did the figure became more and more visible, and more and more familiar. Was that...Chroma? One of his best friends?
" Je ne suis pas dans l'humeur pour des plaisanteries. I'll see you later Chroma." Dominique turned around to leave.

Chromatique finally saw Dominique's approach. his heart was pounding like a jackhammer as the boy approached. he couldn't believe it. Just as he'd started to give up hope, the impeccably dressed boy came into view, walking toward the cave and it's shimmering light. What a beautiful figure Dominique had. He was simply stunning, toned enough not too be skinny, but too skinny to be muscle-bound, a perfect dancer's body that caused Chromatique's heart to skip beats consistently, and his eyes to shyly wander over it.
As Dominique's form finally crossed the threshold that was the mouth of the cave, Chromatique stood up ready to greet him with open arms, but as Dominique got closer, Chroma began to feel discouraged. Dominique wasn't sporting the joyous look that Chroma hand hoped for. If anything he seemed saddened and infuriated. His words and tone of voice soon confirmed this. As did his actions in turning to leave. Wait! This isn't some stupid prank. I left that note for you, Dominique...
Chroma sat down again. He hoped that what he said would be enough to draw Dominique back to his side long enough for him to at least explain and get shot down knowingly, as opposed to hiding his emotions from the object of his affection.

Wait! This isn't some stupid prank. I left that note for you, Dominique...
Dominique stopped his leave as Chroma stated this. Why did he leave the note? Maybe Dom should hear him out. Dom turned around and walked back towards Chroma. What do you mean? Why did you send me the note?
Chroma was one of his best friends, maybe he was just being nice. He watched Chroma sit down. Dom took his hat off, walked over to Chroma and sat down next to him.
If it's not a prank, why did you send it?

Chromatique wanted to run, the thought flashed across his mind for just a moment as the questions issued from his his best friend's mouth. Chroma's hair turned to a pale, almost translucent pink. This was a color that it rarely bore, the color that Chroma unintentionally sported when he was feeling incredibly shy or embarrassed. Well to be honest, Dom. I'm bisexual... The pink in his hair started to become a vibrant hot shade, something he associated, still with nerves, but also with romance. And well... you're just so amazing. Your fashion sense, your style, your voice your eyes, you body. As words continued to trickle from the boy he grew more and more entangled within the emotions attached to them. His hair by now was rose red and his words were increasingly quick. Finally he took a deep breath and started to calm down, his hair returning to it's usual combination of golds, reds and black. I guess what I'm trying to say here, is that I really like you. I always have.

Dominique watched as Chroma's hair changed colours. This was probably because of mixed emotions.

Really? Dome was in disbelief. Why would Chroma like him? DJ had never been anything too special, just a wizard, just like the other wizards and witches in Beauxbaton's. What made him special? And almost as shocking, Chroma was bisexual? How long have you know you're bi? And why do you like me? I'm nothing special.
Dom put his hands on his lap waiting for a response from his friend.

Chromatique wasn't quite sure how to react to the questioning, but at the word really he nodded honestly. It wasn't easy for Chroma to come out, you'd think, given that it was just a trusted friend in such a private place, that things would be made easier for the boy, but they weren't they only got harder, because DJ drove Chromatique crazy. Absolutely wild. What was it about Dominique that Chroma found so irresistible? His body. his voice his personality all drove him wild. The appeal of a fellow dancer too... There as just so much that Chromatique had a world of trouble trying not to love about Dominique.
Look at your personality. You're one of the nicest most dynamic guys I've ever met. You dress like a movie star, and you dance amazingly. I mean what's not to love about you?

Anyone can dress nicely, I''m just...more obsessive with looking good. And dance, again almost anyone can dance if they put work into it. I'm sorry, but I'm not as perfect, special or great as you seem to think. That's nice and all, but everything has a shadow mon amie. Like we may be close, but how well do we know each other really? I mean I had no clue you liked guys until a few moments ago. I hate to sound harsh like this, but you know it's true. Even though we're supposed to be like best friends, you still felt inclined to...hide the real you from me. But on a lighter note, I like you too. I have for a while.
During the last two sentences DJ's voice was taken over by the power of the decrescendo. He nervously looked away and put his hand on the back of his head leaning forward. DJ was using all of his strength to keep himself from embracing his friend, he didn't want to startle or 'creep out' the boy, but as he thought about his friend he had liked for so long a smile crept upon his visage.

Hearing Dominique's reposte threatened to bring tears to Chromatique's eyes. This boy was beautiful, fantastic and talented. He had style and perception, intelligence. He was a vision of absolutely everything Chromatique had wanted in a man, but what was he saying? Because Chroma didn't have the courage to speak his mind earlier, it was too late? Because he was a coward they couldn't be together? Was it because he'd held back the truth and Dominique didn't trust him? Chroma's mind swirled with sadness until finally the last few words crossed his friend's lips. At that point his heart skipped yet another beat, he didn't care though, no, his mind was locked firmly on the future that the pair could share together if everything went as Chroma had hoped.
Thoughts flowed through Chromatique's mind. He opened his arms, reaching out and locking them around his friend. This wasn't an embrace of friendship as they'd sometimes shared, it was something more. Chroma was overjoyed. They had a chance? He felt his head come to rest against the other boy's shoulder. Normally he wouldn't have been quite this much the submissive figure, but in this case he was too overjoyed to really attempt to take a lot of control over the situation. Instead the boy simply rested his head against his friend's shoulder. for what was probably only a few minutes, but felt more like hours. Finally he pulled his head loose, looking up at Dominique, closing his eyes his lips pronounced themselves as his mind wandered ahead into the joy of a potential kiss, while still praying that the fantasy could become truth. Dom was hesitant at first when Chroma pulled him into a hug. However soon enough it began to feel natural. He felt Chroma rest his head on his shoulder and Dome decided to rest his head on Chroma's shoulder. DJ watched as Chroma leand towards him with his lips ready. The question was, was DJ ready to kiss the boy he had only ever known as a friend?
Chroma began getting closer and closer, Dom getting more and more nervous as he neared his friend. Finally their lips met and electricity rushed through DJ's body. This was Dom's first kiss in a while. As their lips stayed together Dom wrapped his arms around Chroma, bringing the two closer. He was afraid of what to do next and began acting on instinct alone as his tongue escape his mouth and begged entrance into Chroma's.

A little sigh of pleasure escaped Chromatique's mouth as the kiss that he'd dreamed of began. Perhaps it wasn't the same as the dreams there were no fireworks, there was no cheers from a crowd, and they hadn't been dancing hand in hand before it began, no, they were sitting in a cave with the sounds of gurgling water falling upon Chromatique's partially deaf ear. still the place was beautiful, light danced about the room as it's shimmering reflection came off the pool.
As the kiss continued beyond Chromatique's sigh, his tongue eagerly escaped his opening mouth, and began to lock it's self into an entirely different dance then the kind he'd become so used to. This was a moment that Chromatique would remember for the rest of his life and if, in fact there was an afterlife, he'd remember it for the entirety of that life too. the gentle caressing of lips and tongues was something that Chromatique hoped would never end, but soon, he needed to breath and his heart yearned with questions. Reluctantly he pulled his mouth away allowing a final soft lick across the other boy's lips, before he took a deep breath. So, what happens now? He asked slightly stupidly. This had been his first kiss with a boy, and it probably sounded as though he'd expected something miraculous and supernatural to occur, but no, what he meant was how did this change things between his best friend and himself. DJ moaned into the kiss, but was a little sad when Chroma finally pulled away. Though he did enjoy Chroma licking his lips, it was quite hot. So, what happens now? That was a good question. Where would they go from here? Would they stay as friends? Friends with benefits? Boyfriends? Lovers? It was definitely a topic that needed to be discussed.
Well what would you like to happen now? You know how I feel about you, I know how you feel. But I warn you I'm not particularly fond of straight acting. It sucks...really sucks. DJ paused and bit his bottom lip before adding, And I don't really want US to be confined to just making out in a cave. DJ was happy with what he said, until he realized how it might come across to Chroma. Not that I'm saying I want to have sex with you....though I'm not saying I don't. Hope I don't sound like a perv now. Look all I know for sure is I don't want to hide my feelings, but I don't want it to seem like I'm forcing you to come out. DJ hoped his friend would understand, and of course not find him to be a sex loving perv.

What on Earth would Chromatique do? He was in a situation where he really had to think. On one hand he feared the relentless judging and hatred of homophobic students, staff and others, but on the other, he couldn't pretend, and he couldn't expect Dominique to be content with seeing him in secret, keeping a relationship a mystery. How would he handle it? What would he do? It was his heart versus his secret, and he didn't know what would happen if he let the secret win.
Well. I want to be your boyfriend more then anything, I mean I have done for a long time now, but it's hard for me. I'm scared, although paranoid is possibly a better word for it, that I'll lose friends and I'll be judged and hated, but the more I think, anyone who hates me for being who I am probably doesn't deserve my time anyway. Still, It's scary, I don't even know how my mother and father'd take it. I don't know if I'm ready... Chromatique was seriously unsure now of what to do, but finally he made his choice, and placed another tender kiss on the boy. But you're worth all of that. Dominique, I love you, will you be my boyfriend? The fullness of his feelings started to come forth. It hadn't been a mere attraction for a while now. The closer the boys had grown the more Chroma had fallen for his friend, and right now it felt obvious to Chromatique that it was indeed love.

DJ could understand why Chroma might be hesitant about coming out. It was a terrifying experience. Not everyone would be as accepting as you hoped. You might lose a friend or two, but if they are willing to turn that easily, then maybe they weren't really friends in the first place. DJ had come out to people before that turned on him, but he was fine now.

Almost everyone fears the unknown. Damn right if they don't accept you they aren't worth your time. I know it's scary, I've been in your position before. But you can't fear the unknown forever. Eventually you need to let the unknown answer your question, and let it become knowledge.
Dominique, I love you, will you be my boyfriend? Yes Chroma, I will. Je t'aime. I will be there for you every step of the way mon amie, mon amour. DJ pulled Chroma into a hug, planting a kiss on his cheek. He held his past friend, now boyfriend's hand. And Chroma, if anyone turns away from you, c'est la vie, life will go on, and you will have me regardless.

Their embrace was warm, loving. The otherwise cold, but beautiful cave had become a paradise on earth to Chromatique. As he realized he'd just agreed t come out, the hot pink shade returned to his hair, and he sighed sighed just slightly, although he hoped he'd play if off as a sigh of joy, as soon he found himself planting kisses gently into the neck of his boyfriend. This felt right, it had been a long, long wait in Chromatique's mind. It had taken him a long time to work up the courage to say what needed to be said, but, now that it had been he had every intention of making up for lost time. moving to whisper into the boy's ear, he first gave the lobe a loving nibble, and began to speak. Je vous aime, Dominique.
